The Student to teacher ratio is always 10 to 1. Each session is limited to 20 students, thus increasing to a 20 to 2 ratio. If there is a need, additional instructors can be provided.
Our instructors don’t only have experience in the field of Dental Assistant, they are also still active in the field.
Our instructors offer insight into the day-to-day operations of today’s dental offices, not just academic information
Our instructors have experience in different specialties, such as oral surgery, office management, digital radiography, and the different software programs that are used in dentist offices
Sherri Mikles
Co-Founder/Instructor
Sherri Mikles began her career in dental assisting in 1981. She is the Co-founder/Director and Registrar of Dental Assisting Technologies. She has had extensive training in all aspects of the dental office. Sherri has gained experience over the years working in well-respected area dental offices. She has filled in for many of the area dental offices throughout her career. She was a certified member of DNAB and has had training with Eaglesoft software, Dentrix software, and digital radiography. A Rock Island, n. dental assisting school employed her for 2 years before the opening of Dental Assisting Technologies as an instructor. She prides herself on making her students' educational experience stimulating, challenging, enlightening, and fun!
Janean Brown
Co-Founder/Instructor
Janean Brown has been a dental assistant since 1989. She became Co-founder/Director and Registrar of Dental Assisting Technologies after relocating to the Quad Cities in 2005. Her career began in Virginia. She has had training in all aspects of dental assisting, working chairside in both general and pediatric dentistry. Her last 10 years as a Virginia resident were as a financial coordinator/ office manager. In this position. she received extensive training in Pride marketing & management and Dentrix software. She volunteered for the Northern VA area dental clinics and schools and was certified in radiology by the state of Virginia. Janean thoroughly enjoys her chosen career and still works as a fill-in for dental offices in the area. Her personal goal is to give her students an advantage over other applicants by implementing the knowledge she has acquired from her many years of training.
Dr. Joseph D. Jackson, DMD
DMD
A Quad City native, Dr. Jackson graduated from United Township High School in East Moline. He then received his Bachelor's Degree in Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Jackson received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the Southern Illinois University of Dental Medicine. He is an active member of the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Academy of General Chemistry, American Dental Association, Chicago Dental Society, Illinois State Dental Society, and the Rock Island District Dental Society. Dr. Jackson also volunteers with Christina's Smile, a free dental clinic for needy children sponsored by the PGA Tour. Dr. Jackson practices with Dr. David E. Lemon, DDS in Moline. Dr. Ronald Riggins, DMD
DMD
Dr. Ronald Riggins, DMD graduated from Moline High School and received his B.A. in biology from the University of Iowa. He received his D.M.D from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine and has completed a residency in general dentistry. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, Rock Island District Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Riggins currently serves as secretary of the Rock Island District Dental Society as well as on various committees in both the Rock Island District Dental Society and the Illinois State Dental Society. He also serves on several boards that support the community. He is currently the president of the Moline Public Schools Foundation. Dr. Riggins practices all aspects of general dentistry at his offices in Moline and Rock Island, IL. He enjoys skiing, boating, and time with his friends and family.
Jeanine Mack
Instructor
Jeanine Mack attended Black Hawk College's Dental Assisting Program in 1983. She has been enjoying the dental field ever since. She has experience in all of the dental office duties, specializing in dental assisting. Jeanine has had Cerec training, and experience with Dentrix software, Softdent dental software, and digital radiography. She has had 13 years of administrative experience as well. She enjoys the adventures of the ever-changing improvements of dentistry and the positive impact that is made on a patient's smile as a result. She hopes to be able to convey the importance of being a caring and conscientious dental professional to her students.
Donna Blick
Donna Blick is a Quad City native, having attended United Township High School, Black Hawk College, and Dental Assisting Technologies. She has been employed as a Registered Dental Assistant since 2007. She has received clinical training with Cerec, Invisalign, Sleep Solutions, and digital radiography. Donna has also received practice management training with The Levin Group. She has enjoyed participating in the Give Kids A Smile program. She looks forward to helping others learn skills for a rewarding and fulfilling career as a dental assistant
Carol Hollister
Instructor
Carol is an alumnus of Dental Assisting Technologies. She graduated in 2011. She immediately found employment with Dr. John Williams of Moline and is currently employed with Riverside Dentistry. Carol believes in a positive approach to teaching. She shares this approach in her personal life as well. Helping the students to incorporate this quality into their professional life can make all the difference for them.
Heidi Storm
Instructor
Heidi graduated from Carl Sandburg's Dental Hygiene program in 2004. After taking the National Board Examination and North East Regional Board Examination, she received her license to practice. She has been employed with Dr. Amy Field since 2004 and LJ Dentistry, both of Moline IL since 2005. She enjoys the personal one-on-one interactions with her patients and students. She has expressed the enjoyment that she gets from creating confidence in oral health awareness.
Lisa Jones
Instructor
Lisa has worked as a dental assistant since 2006. She has been employed as a dental assistant, orthodontic assistant, and dental receptionist. Because of her vast dental practice knowledge, Lisa can share a variety of her experiences with her students. She approaches educating her students with an understanding and sense of humor that helps to lessen stress that some bear in an educational environment.
Nicole Dietrich
Instructor
Nicole graduated from Alleman high school. She graduated from DAT in 2011 and has worked in the dental field ever since. She served proudly in the Army Reserve. Nicole married Alex and has three handsome sons. Nicole enjoys the hands-on aspect of teaching her students in a true-to-life setting. She believes in creating a positive work environment!

Trisha Price
Trisha Price is a 2003 graduate of Excel Training Systems School of Dental Assisting in Rock Island, IL. She has been employed since as a chairside dental assistant and receptionist. She has also received her Associate's Degree from Black Hawk College in Moline, IL, and had started her Bachelor's Degree in Education at Western IL University in Moline, IL. Tricia is trained in both Eaglesoft and Dentrix software. She looks forward to helping new students transition into a new career.
Julie Wyfells
Julie Wyfells's career in dental assisting began in 1985. She received her certificate degree in dental assisting from Black Hawk College in Moline, IL. She assisted in general dentistry until 1993. She then decided to further her education by attending Illinois Central Community College in Peoria and graduated with a degree in Dental Hygiene. An opportunity arose for her to teach at Carl Sandberg College's Dental Hygiene Program in Galesberg, IL. She taught there for 5 years. Since becoming a dental hygienist, she has worked for several area dentists. Julie has done missionary dental work in Costa Rica and hopes to do more in the future. Her love for her profession has kept her involved in the dental field.
